The room itself stays as photographed: walls, windows, floor and fixtures are unchanged, and only the furnishings are added. **How much does virtual staging cost?** On QuickStaging, between $0.31 and $0.60 per generated image, depending on plan size and billing period. The smallest one-time pack is 30 credits for $18 ($0.60/image); the best one-time rate is 250 credits for $109 ($0.44/image). AB 723 (codified at Business & Professions Code § 10140.8) requires two things for a digitally altered listing photo: a statement that the image has been altered, and access to the unaltered original. That access can be a link or QR code, or the original image shown immediately before or after the altered one. Elsewhere in the US there is no federal rule, but NAR's Standard of Practice 12-10 covers misleading imagery. Of 297 California listings checked on Zillow on 2026-08-12 that state their photos were digitally altered, 3 carried a link or QR code to the original image. Read generously, counting listings that show the original inside the photo gallery (the route California MLSs are teaching), 95.3% still fall short.
