Why Virtually Stage a Home Office?
Empty rooms look cold and small. Help buyers visualize their future home with virtual staging.
Physical staging: $1,500 median
NAR puts the median cost of a staging service at $1,500 per home, and $500 when the sellers' agent stages it themselves. Virtual staging is priced per photo instead.

49% saw a faster sale
In NAR's 2025 survey, 49% of sellers' agents said staging reduced the time a home spent on the market, and 29% reported a 1% to 10% increase in the dollar value offered.
NAR surveyed home staging in general. The survey does not separate virtual staging from physically furnished staging.
Source: National Association of REALTORS®, 2025 Profile of Home Staging (May 6, 2025). Surveyed February 2025. NAR invited a random sample of 49,806 active Realtors and received 1,266 usable responses, a 2.5% response rate.
What a staged home office contains
A desk positioned so the chair does not sit with its back to the door, a task chair, shelving or a low cabinet against a free wall, a desk lamp, a rug to define the working area, and restrained wall art. The furniture is kept to a scale that leaves the floor readable, because the room is usually small.
What stays exactly as you photographed it
Built-in storage, radiators, flooring, sockets and wall colour are all preserved. Staging shows a use for the room, it does not alter the room.
Shooting a room you want to present as an office
Show the window and the wall together
A desk wants daylight from the side. A frame that includes both the window and the wall the desk will sit against makes the layout obvious.
Shoot the smallest bedroom this way too
The box room is the most common candidate. Staging it as an office answers the question a buyer has about a room that is too small to sell as a third bedroom.
Keep cables and sockets in shot
They are not a flaw here. A visible socket beside the desk wall is the detail that makes the room read as workable.

Disclosing altered photos
Since January 1, 2026, California's AB 723 has required a visible disclosure and a link to the original photo on digitally altered listing images. Edits that change how a property looks are covered; routine colour and exposure fixes are not.
We checked 297 California listings whose own captions admit the photos were altered. 99% carry no publicly reachable link to the original image, which is the half of the statute almost everyone misses.

Home Office staging questions
Can I stage the same room as both a bedroom and an office?
Yes, and it is one of the more useful things you can do with a small room. Run it twice, once with each intent, and put both photos in the listing so the buyer sees the choice. Each render costs one credit.
Does the desk have to face the window?
No, and it usually should not. Light from the side reads better in a photo than a desk shot straight into a bright window.
Will an office render make a small room look bigger?
It will make it look usable, which is the more honest goal. Furniture is scaled to the actual floor space, so a box room still photographs as a box room, just one with a clear purpose.
